Circular plastics take centre stage at the Rethinking Plastic showroom
Equiplast awards three sustainable packaging and street furniture products
The award in the “Construction and Furniture” category went to Motus, by CitySens Lab. It is a line of planters designed and produced following a biophilic approach, a current trend in architecture and interior design aimed at reconnecting people with nature. Made from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic, these planters feature a self-watering system and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
The company Enplast, for its part, received the award in the sustainable plastic packaging category for its industrial three-layer drum made with 50% post-consumer recycled material. This technology makes it possible to use recycled material in the central layer of the packaging without compromising its properties.
Finally, the Rethinking Plastic Special Award for Circularity went to ARTdECO, modular benches developed by Unnom. Made entirely from recycled plastics, including materials from Tetra Brik cartons, these pieces of street furniture are designed to be easy to assemble, repair and reuse.
Showroom for innovation in plastics
The showroom in the Rethinking Plastic space, open to Equiplast visitors throughout the event, showcases a selection of more than a dozen real applications highlighting the potential of recycled, recyclable or renewably sourced plastics. The exhibition includes initiatives covering the entire material cycle, from the recovery of agricultural or post-consumer waste to its transformation into high value-added products with performance comparable to conventional plastics.
Equiplast and Expoquimia, which are once again being held together this year, run until tomorrow, Friday, at the Gran Via venue, bringing together more than 800 exhibitors.
