Compostable raffia and clips for horticultural trellising: a solution to persistent microplastics in soil and compost

Presentation of the experience at the Bayer CropScience facilities in Almería, El Ejido, involving the use of compostable raffia and clips made of Mater-Bi under extreme load conditions, where their quality, strength, durability, and excellent performance have been confirmed. Raffia and clips made from Mater-Bi® have matched the expected performance of those made from conventional plastic (PP) and have demonstrated improvements in their use. In addition, these materials have made the composting process more efficient and have proven to be very easy to convert into high-quality compost at the Servicios Ambientales Las Chozas composting plant.
