Interview with Rafael Ortega, executive director of Raorsa
Raorsa, with more than 35 years of experience in the plastics technology sector in Spain, is aimed at all plastics processing industries: from manufacturers of packaging and components for the automotive industry, to construction, health and agricultural companies that require tailor-made solutions. The Valencian company will once again participate in Equiplast as a Global Partner in its 2026 edition.
What are the main hallmarks of Raorsa?
Since our inception, we have been committed to three pillars that define who we are: innovation, customer proximity and commitment to quality. Firstly, innovation translates into a constant search for machinery and peripherals that incorporate the latest improvements in energy efficiency, automation and Industry 4.0. Secondly, our customer orientation is not limited to sales: it includes a proactive after-sales service, technical training and personalized assistance, both from Valencia and, through our partner Italprensas, throughout the northern part of Spain. Finally, our commitment to quality is reflected from the sale of each machine to the after-sales service: we select first-class technological partners, deliver rigorously calibrated equipment and guarantee its optimal performance through proactive maintenance and specialized technical support.
What sets your company apart from others in this industry?
What really sets us apart is our comprehensive view of the machinery life cycle. We don’t just deliver the most advanced equipment: we ensure its long-term performance with our own technical service and coverage throughout Spain, flexible financing models and tailor-made solutions that adapt to the specific needs of each client. This combination of cutting-edge technology, national presence and empathy with the customer allows us to promote projects that optimize costs, shorten deadlines and raise sustainability standards in the plastics industry.
The adoption of advanced and environmentally friendly technologies, together with digital transformation, are essential to promote a more sustainable future. How does Raorsa contribute to achieving this goal?
Through a comprehensive strategy that combines advanced technology and environmental commitment in every phase of our activity.
Thus, our machinery portfolio is designed to maximize energy efficiency and minimize resource consumption, incorporating control systems that reduce both electricity consumption and raw material waste. By choosing equipment with compatible biopolymer or recycled variants, we facilitate the transition to a circular economy in the plastics sector.
In addition, digital transformation is a key axis in our roadmap. Through remote monitoring and data analysis platforms, we can optimize the parameters of our machinery, anticipate possible incidents and guarantee predictive maintenance that thus prolongs its useful life.
Recently, the Valencia Chamber of Commerce has recognized us with the Diploma of the “SDG SME Action and Improvement Plan” Program, an endorsement of our good practices in Sustainable Development Goals. This award endorses that our commitment is not only commercial, but a tangible commitment to an increasingly green plastics sector.
In short, at Raorsa we believe that innovation and sustainability go hand in hand: we provide our customers with cutting-edge technology that respects the environment, optimises costs and prepares the industry for the challenges of tomorrow.
As part of this commitment, Raorsa organises the SIR Awards for sustainability, innovation and recycling. Can you explain what they consist of and give us a preview of the details of the next edition?
These awards recognise from the outset the most outstanding initiatives in sustainability, innovation and recycling within the plastics industry. Its objective is to highlight projects and companies that lead the way towards a more responsible and efficient sector.
The third edition, originally scheduled for 2026, will be held in 2028 after a process of reflection and renewal of its theme and scope. With this reformulation, the SIR Awards will maintain their spirit of driving change and offer an even stronger platform to recognise and disseminate the solutions that are building the future of plastics.
What customer profile is Raorsa aimed at and what are its main markets?
Our customers are often production managers, maintenance managers and engineering teams who are looking not only for high-performance machinery, but also for a partner with the capacity to accompany them in every phase of the production cycle.
Our presence is consolidated throughout Spain, where we have forged relationships of trust with large and medium-sized companies that value our proposals for sustainable technology, energy efficiency and after-sales services.
You have three brands: TOYO, VIRGINIO NASTRI and MAIN TECH. What type of machines or solutions do you offer in each case and to which sectors of activity?
At Raorsa we work with a portfolio of brands covering the entire plastics value chain, from high-end machinery to entry-level solutions, to address a wide range of needs. Thus, TOYO offers high-speed and precision injection molding machines, designed for demanding sectors such as packaging, automotive, electronics and pharmaceuticals, where cycle consistency and surface quality are critical. For its part, Virginio Nastri’s offer consists of conveyor belt systems, both standard and custom-made, designed to optimize the flow of materials in automotive, food, logistics and construction environments, guaranteeing efficiency and adaptability to the layout of each plant. And Maintech provides dosing, feeding and weighing systems for polymers and additives, essential to optimize the injection or extrusion process in automotive, construction, electronics and home, guaranteeing uniformity and raw material savings.
In addition, to serve companies looking for more accessible solutions without sacrificing good service, we have launched the Inyectia Global Future brand, as exclusive distributors of Tederic, Pulian and Alfarobot in Spain. Under this banner, we offer entry-level injection molding machines and automation equipment with a quality-price ratio that facilitates the modernization and competitiveness of our customers.
What does it mean for Raorsa to be an Equiplast Global Partner? What do you expect from the 2026 edition?
Raorsa’s participation as a Global Partner in Equiplast reinforces our regional proximity strategy, allowing us to get even closer to customers in Catalonia and the Mediterranean area. There we show live our latest news and delve into the specific needs of the local market, always maintaining the same level of excellence and commitment that defines us.
For the 2026 edition, we hope not only to consolidate the contacts generated in past editions, but also to exceed the results: more visits to our stand, a greater number of live demonstrations and, above all, new collaborations that reinforce our position as a reference partner in plastics machinery. We are already working on important new features to present for the first time.
Why is it interesting for companies in the sector to visit this fair?
Equiplast offers a more direct and focused environment than the major international trade fairs in the sector. Practically all the suppliers and key players in the plastics industry in Spain live here, which facilitates access to specialized solutions and the establishment of valuable contacts.
As it is a national event, visitors find an optimal balance between networking quality and sectoral relevance: they learn first-hand about the latest trends, calibrate innovation proposals and strengthen relationships with customers and suppliers in a less crowded, but equally dynamic space.
